As soon as our Summer CSA share was over, I started wishing we had paid for a winter share, as well. We only got a taste of all the winter squash and can now only hope this weekend's farmers market (the last one of the year) will have enough to go around.

I'm not looking forward to having to go to grocery stores again this winter. Getting food directly from the farm is just so awesome.

Are any of your local sources up there selling Golden Nugget squash? They look a lot like the mini Hubbards. Rock-hard rinds (I had to use a hatchet to get a particular one open), but sooo worth the effort to get into. They bake up sweet and moist, and they keep forever.

Highly recommended!

Yum! You're making me want to go out and buy a ton of squash! My mouth is watering, plus it's just plain pretty to look at.
